Langelier/Ryznar Index Water Analysis
The Langelier Saturation Index calculates the level of saturation of calcium carbonate in water.
The optimal level is 0.0 LSI, though a plus/minus of 0.3 is generally acceptable. A negative LSI indicates the water is undersaturated, meaning the water may potentially be corrosive, dissolving existing scale and attacking unprotected metal.
A positive LSI, on the other hand, indicates oversaturated water, meaning the water could cause scaling and lead to a build-up of calcium deposits.
The Langelier Ryznar Index is often used to test Pool Water, Domestic Systems and Industrial Cooling Water but can be a relevant test in pretty much any water system.
- Total Dissolved Solids
- Calcium Hardness

We ask that the client makes a note of the water temperature reading at the time of sampling provide the lab for additional result accuracy.
Feedwater is an industrial water treatment company with consultants across the UK, if after your results you would like expert advice, we can arrange for a free site visit by one of our knowledgeable consultants to discuss system protection, ideal treatment and efficiency.
Sample point should be flushed prior to taking sample to ensure fresh system water is taken.
Safety precautions should adhere to when sampling, if in doubt seek advice.
